The districts are wildly uneven: LS17 holds 1,262 postcodes around Leeds and LS98 holds 1, a ratio of about 1262 to one. They divide into 143 sectors.

Several districts share a settlement, which is a common source of confusion when a form rejects an address: LS1, LS2, LS3, LS4, LS5, LS6, LS7, LS8, LS9, LS11, LS12, LS17 and LS98 all point at Leeds, LS10, LS26, LS88 and LS99 all point at Rothwell and LS14, LS15 and LS25 all point at Garforth.

LS78 is a non-geographic district: it carries no coordinates because it is used for PO boxes and large users rather than for streets. It appears in the table below but cannot be placed on the map.

What borders LS

LS sits next to WF (Wakefield) to the south, HG (Harrogate) to the north, HD (Huddersfield) to the south west, HX (Halifax) to the south west and BD (Bradford) to the west.

Its neighbours run in 4 different directions, so LS is landlocked by other postcode areas on most sides.

We read it as calcium carbonate because the determinand is Hardness total and the dataset contains no calcium determinand.
